70s Vibe

lavido1
Flared jeans have come back in season with a bang and nothing
says casual-chic so effortlessly. While most dread wearing them, I think they
can look great on any one, provided they are styled and accessorized right.
Having said that, I am definitely a flared jeans type of girl, not only because
it is the most luxurious cut of them all, but because it elongates my legs
making me seem taller.

The number one rule, in my opinion, is about balance and
creating a flattering silhouette, hence, your flared jeans should be fitted on
the hips, skinny on the legs and flared, not too much, at the bottom.
Naturally, balance is also created by the perfect length so ensure that your
flared jeans are long enough but not so long that you step on them.

A pair of flared jeans is a great investment as it can be
worn casually and officially. You can wear them with a tucked in classic shirt for
work or with a barely-tucked-in t-shirt for the weekend look. I wore my Mango flared jeans with a tucked in shirt from Woolworths and this look can easily
pass for a dress-down Friday look at work. I could also throw in a blazer to
make it more official.

The next time you see a great pair of flared jeans in a
store, don’t ignore them. Take them home, style them right and channel the 70s
vibe!

Happy weekend!

Happy new week!

Apologies, my dear readers, for not posting last week. A wise man once said that the pleasure of anticipating is the greatest pleasure. I agree.

Every outfit in a woman’s closet has a story and that story usually involves, amongst others, the emotions a particular outfit evoked in us. It could be how happy and content we were when we wore a certain dress for our birthday dinner or who we met when we had our best heels on. Either way, my closet storybook would be incomplete if I did not include today’s look.

Words cannot express how much I enjoyed styling and wearing this Lavish Alice suit. What better color to have it in, too, than in red? Combine that with the fact that this is not your ‘normal formal’ suit concept, what with the cape feature of the blazer and the wrap waist of the pants, and you have a perfect outfit story!

A story that involves a go-getter attitude from the whole fit, superwoman abilities from the cape feature and sexy confidence from the Christian Louboutin stilettos and the color of the suit. What more can a girl ask for?

Whatever your outfit story, remember that a smile is your best accessory!

In My Jeans

Happy hump day!

What better way to get your groove on as the weekend,
together with the Eid holiday, almost approaches than with some perfectly
fitted demins?!
Perfectly fitted jeans are every woman’s dream. I know how
long and hard we search for a pair of well fitting jeans. I also know how we
tend to get carried away with that pair of jeans and wear it over and over again.
The great thing is that you can style a good pair of jeans differently every
time you wear it and nobody will know it’s the same pair (unless you live with
them).
Take my outfit below as an example. For this look, I paired
my River Island skinny jeans with this stripped shirt from Hunter Blue. By the
way, do pass by the shop one day, it’s a hidden gem! I completed my look with
Kurt Geiger stilettos. I could wear this look to work on casual Fridays and for
drinks afterwards.
Do you have a pair of great fitting jeans? How do you style them?
Happy holidays to my Muslim readers and be safe!
Love!

Double Denim

IMG_0787
Thank God it’s Friday!

This is not the first time I am wearing denim on denim, you
can check out my post here. This time though, I styled my Forever 21 denim shirt with this H & M skirt and Gianvito Rossi shoes. I completed my look
with my fabulous braids! Ha ha.
Denim on denim was considered an absolute no no for the
longest time and many people shied away from it. Not anymore. Judging by the
number of celebrities and fashionistas that have embraced this trend, we can
safely assume that this is one trend that is not going anywhere any time soon.
The fact is that wearing double, or triple, denim can be a
bit intimidating. The trick to get it right, however, is to make sure that the
denim colour shades are completely different. This means that you should pair a
lighter shade of denim top with a darker shade of denim bottom. Naturally, this
is the preferred pairing for most women as it is the most flattering.  Another rule is to make sure that your pieces
fit perfectly. Nobody wants to look like a clown with a baggy pair of jeans and
an ill fitting shirt!
So take out your denim pieces this weekend and have fun!
Remember to be safe while at it!

Full Flirt

IMG_0758
I believe that we all had a great relaxing holiday yesterday and that we
are up for another post?!

Full skirts are among the fun items in my closet, case in point, this floral print full skirt by Chicwish.  I
absolutely love full skirts as they are the epitome of elegance and femininity.
Their fullness is very flirtatious making them the go-to item if you are aiming
for that girly girl look. A full skirt is your best friend as it can be worn to
office, church or to a wedding, as long as you pair it well and accessorize it
right.

For this office look, I paired my skirt with a white shirt from Mango to
tone it down. I cannot even begin to talk about the importance of a white shirt
(or several) in a woman’s closet! They are a must-have. So are white
tee-shirts. They are easy, simple and very effortless to style. I completed my
look with Valentino shoes and a clutch from Louis Vuitton.

And while fashion rules dictate that if you choose a printed full skirt
you should break your look with neutral separates (as I did), you should always go with
what works for you and most important, defines you. After all, rules are meant
to be broken!

 Happy Wednesday!

 Love.

All You Need Is Shoes

IMG_0765

Happy new month!

Let me start off by saying that this post is entirely
dedicated to the shoes I am wearing.

There are so many quotes that try to describe a woman’s relationship
with her shoes but the most common is by Marilyn Monroe. Yes, you guessed it
right.

“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”

That is exactly what these pair of Kandee Shoes pumps can
make you do: conquer the world. I cannot even begin to describe how fabulous
these shoes are. The fusion of pumps and gladiators give them an extra edge and
upgrade them from simple shoes to killer shoes. I cannot wait to share the
multiple ways in which I can style these shoes.
For this post, I paired the pumps with this short Mango denim dress to really showcase their beauty. This dress has been in my wardrobe
forever and just like fine wine, it gets better with age. I wore this outfit
for drinks at Mimosa Lounge, which is one of the coolest places to hang out and
has the best view in Dar es Salaam. Check it out someday.
May we all conquer the world this new month!
Happy Friday!
Love and Love.
